GED classes in Waterman

There is a GED class offered in Waterman at the Presbyterian Church, 250 North Cedar, on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6 – 8:05p.m.  Instructor Wendy Yegoiants invites any residents in the Waterman-Earlville-Shabbona area who would like to explore preparation for the GED exam or who are interested in improving their reading, writing or math skills to stop by the class.  GED classes cover reading, writing, science, social studies, and mathematics. Adults work at their own level and speed.   GED classes offered through Kishwaukee College are free and have an open enrollment so students may join a class at anytime.  For more information on GED preparation classes, call Kishwaukee College at 825-2086, ext. 318.

Kishwaukee College also is a test site for the GED exam.  GED testing will take place on the first, second, and third Wednesdays of the month, excluding holidays, from 9:00a.m. – 1:00p.m. in Room A-200 at the College.  Students taking the GED must bring a government-issued photo ID with them to the test.  Seating for each test date is limited, so students should call early to make a test reservation.

The GED consists of five testing areas: language arts-writing, social studies, science, mathematics, and language arts-reading.  Kishwaukee College offers classes on GED preparation throughout the district.  Practice tests are also available at the DeKalb, Rochelle, and Sycamore Public Libraries.  Any Kishwaukee College student or DeKalb County resident interested in taking the GED must register with the DeKalb County Regional Office of Education, 245 W. Exchange Street, Suite 2, Sycamore, and pay a $35 registration fee.  Registration is good for one year.  For information on registration, Kishwaukee College students and DeKalb County residents should call the DeKalb County Regional Office of Education at 815-895-3096.
