I've been self employed, working out of my home for the last 35+ years. This has worked well both while the children were growing up and now being able to have more of a flexible schedule so that we can spend more time at our cabin in Michigan on Torch Lake with family and friends. Some of my hobbies include snowmobiling, biking and working on my two cars a Metropolitian and a Crosley. I also have Cushman motor scooters that I enjoy working on. I've had a hip replacement and two knee replacements and because of my new parts I'm able to continue swimming each morning and ride my bike everday for about 20 miles.

After graduation I entered the Army. I was stationed on Mt. Gleason, elevation 6532 feet above sea level in Southern California, a Nike missle site. I was there for my entire tour of duty. After my discharge I put my high school education to use and got a job as a draftsman at Reuland Electric Company, a manufacturer of custom electric motors and drives. During my employment, I started attending classes at the local junior college. Once I had enough credits, I transferred to Cal State, LA. I received my degree in 1977.
Shortly after, I accepted a Production Control Manager positon with Carrier Corporation. Eventually, I became the Materials Manager and was responsible for all planning and scheduling. I tranferred to the Indianapolis plant in 1984. Being so close to Chlicago, I was able to visit with my folks many times. I got an opportunity to move back to southern California in 1990, staying with Carrier until the plant was shut down and operations moved to Tyler, Texas. I ended my career with GAFMC, a manufacturer of roofing shingles and accessories, as the Western Regional Logistic Manager.
I retired in March of 2004 and spend most of my time playing golf in the morning, pocket billiards in the afternoon, and working out at the fitness center at least 3 times a week. I look forward to hearing from some of my classmates.

I have Lane Tech to thank for my career as an aircraft mechanic and a heating, air conditioning, & sheet metal contractor. Having had electric shop and aviation sheet metal shop at Lane Tech gave me the education I needed to continue on my career path.
After, graduating from Lane Tech, I worked for North Central Airlines at O’Hare field. In 1962 I joined the Navy and was attached to Navel Air Station Brunswick Maine. 1966 ended my four years in the Navy and continued on with the airline. In 1968 I decided to get into the heating and air conditioning field and after working for a large HVAC company for four years I started my own company in January of 1972 focused on custom sheet metal work and currently still at it. Also, because of a strong interest in law enforcement, worked for Kane County Sheriffs Police for 26 years and retired with the rank of captain in 2001. Hobbies include flying, motorcycle trips and traveling.

Attended USNA after two years at U of I. John Neilsen, Lane '59, was two years ahead of me. Served in a number of surface warfare billets, mostly out of San Diego. Spent way too much time in and off the coast of SVN and Gulf of Tonkin. Came back to Chicago as Executive Officer of the boot camp at Great Lakes and the NROTC Unit at Northwestern.
On Navy retirement, went to ITT Corporation teaching steam and pumping systems seminars. Traveled to India, China, South America many times doing training seminars Retired after 20+ years at ITT, am now self employed doing the same thing for friends of mine around the country.
I recall that some courses at USNA were a real breeze due to the background that I got at LTHS: mechanical drawing, math, basic engineering.
I'm looking forward to seeing some of the (unofficial) LTHS/LPBC crew teams I rowed with.

I've had a great life. After LANE I studied at Uof I at Chicago for 2 years, and the U.S. Army for 3, maried Karen and we had Ray R. and 5 years later Dawn S. In 1970 I became single and a whole new and wild world. I moved to Ft. Wayne IN. to settle down and as Director of Linen Services AT a 650 bed, ultra modern Hospital. A great job, and met Samie. We survived the blizzard of 77 and moved to Munroe, LA. with trips to New Orleans, Hot Springs AK, FL, and between. In March after we won the election I was told a management company would be taking over my Laundry in a month as well as other areas of the hospital, I would receive a large severance and thanks. Of course there was an ad in the trade magizine and after 3 phone calls I had the job and started in a week at "OLD FAITHFUL" in YELLOWATONE NATIONAL PARK. Managing the laundry for the 5 month summer season. Many great stories...We left, maried, back to IN and a 10 day school, sell the car and put a down payment on our semi tractor truck, picked up our first load and became truckers. 2 & 1/2 million miles ans 2 1/2 years later I sold the truck and picked up the company car and began as chemical salesman covering IN. Detergents and related products to the power laundry industry. I got costudy of dawn for her last 2 years with us in IN. She went on to beauty school in Chicago, and did great./I resumed my life alone and in 2 years moved to FL, near my aging mother. Bought a 45' HOUSEBOAT and retired to a bunch of PT jobs and buisnesses until huricane CHARLEY destroyed it in 04. I then traveled to Texas, Chicago, Costa rica, FL, Thailand, settrled down for now in Tampa FL.

After graduation from Lane I attended SIU and received my B.S. in Printing Management. In 1971 I received my MBA from Loyola of Chicago. My wife Judy and I have been married 47 years and we have three children and seven grandchildren. I have spent my entire career in the graphic arts with Rand McNally, Courier Corp., World Book Encyclopedia, and the DB Hess Company. During this career I held a number of management positions with the last 9 years as being President of the DB Hess Company. After a brief retirement I reentered the workforce as the Executive V.P. of the BMI which is a printing industry trade association. My parents, wife and family, and Lane Tech have had the most positive effect on my life. Lane prepared me by understanding the values of loyalty, dedication, teamwork, and friendship (interpersonal relationships). I will forever be indebted to my experiences at Lane.

After graduating from Lane, I went on for my Bachelor and Master's Degrees in Marketing. My wife Connie and I were married in 1965 and had boys, Glenn and Jeff. We lived in several Chicago area suburbs including Palatine, Naperville, Barrington and Algonquin before moving to Colorado Springs in 1994. Along the way, we spent 2 years in Columbus, Ohio. My business career included 13 years with McDonald's Corp. (fast food), 5 years with Hyatt hotels, my own consulting business, and a few more years here in Colorado Springs with David C. Cook, ASI Direct Marketing and Focus-on-the- Family. Currently I serve as Sr. V.P. with Hispanic Strategies...a marketing and strategic planning consulting firm. Connie and I love traveling and especially returning to the Chicago area to see our children, friends and one grandson. Colorado provides beautiful weather and extraordinary mountains and valleys. But we still miss Wisconsin and the Michigan lakes, and try to visit the Traverse City area as often as possible. God has been very good to us and we are most grateful. Blessings, Tom and Connie Spitza.

Entered the work force in '61 as a specification draftsman for a rubber products company. Stayed in the industry my entire career with positions as tool designer, mold engineer, equipment engineer, product engineer, application engineer, sales engineer and finally a sales manager for the heavy duty equipment products. If it wasn't for the training I received at Lane, I doubt I would've ever achieved the successess that I did. Thank you Lane Tech. Married a wonderful woman, Carolyn, in 1967. We have 3 children scattered around the country and doing well in various fields of endeavor. Lost my wife to cancer in 2001 and retired in 2003. Spend my summers camping in Ludington MI and doing all the fishing I can in Lake Michigan and Lake Erie. Also like to travel and have been working on my "bucket list". Last year I did my highest priority locations: the Tahitian Islands aboard a 4 masted sailing ship and a riverboat tour from Moscow to St Petersburg in Russia. Looking forward to the 50th reunion!

After hanging around with the same good looking gal since seventh grade, we finally decided to get married (on Martin Luther's 479th birthday). That led to two sons and eventually five grandsons and one very fine grand-daughter.
Along with working as a clean-room designer and construction co-ordinator we found time to build and race sports cars around the midwest. We also found time to go sailing in the Great Lakes and the Gulf of Mexico.
In 1985 we walked out of the house, left it to our two sons, and moved aboard a 36 ft sailboat. We then had projects in Washington DC, Paris France, Frankfort Germany, North Carolina, Florida, Texas, and a few other places in America. When the phone rings, we answer the call like the proverbial minuteman.
We're now living on a 38 ft trawler, cruising around the eastern half of the USA and Canada. In another few years we'll be tired of looking at water and sandy beaches. It'll then be time for a motor-home so we can go look at the rocks and trees of the mountains. My mother-in-law lived in the same Chicago house for 57 years. We haven't been in the same state for 57 consecutive days since we've been married.
Is this a great country, or what!

After graduating from Lane Tech, I worked in a tool & die shop. After 6 years, I left tool & die and started an asphalt paving company (Pioneer Blacktop) in northern Lake County, remaining in the business for 27 years. During my later years in the paving business, I began travelling to Florida during the winters and ventured into developing land-lease manufactured home cummunities for 55+ active adults. Over the years, I have bought, developed, and sold multiple communities in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Florida. I currently own 3 communities: Caribbean Park in Naples, Florida / Arcadia Village in Arcadia, Florida / Harbor Lites in McHenry, Illinois. Arcadia Village includes an executive 9-hole Par 3 golf course, shuffleboard, tennis, bocce ball, fishing lakes, clubhouses, swimming pools, and nature areas. Caribbean Park is only a few short miles from the Gulf of Mexico and beaches in beautiful Naples, Florida. Many active adults from the Chicago area reside within one of our communities. You can find us on the web at ArcadiaVillage.com or CaribbeanPark.net or call me at (847) 644-4503 or (800) 538-2590.

After graduation from Lane, I attended IIT and entered their civil engineering program. Four years later I had my BSCE degree and my first job was as a structural engineer with Austin Company in Chicago. Within one year of graduation I got married and my wife and I will be celebrating our 45th anniversary this year. We have three wonderful children and five grandchildren- all of whom live within minutes of our Northfield home. After one year with Austin Company followed with three years at Leonard Construction Co., Division of Monsanto, as a structural engineer, I accepted a position in 1968 as a project engineer with Laicon, Inc., a start-up environmental engineering company located in LaGrange. Shortly thereafter I became an Illinois Licensed Professional Engineer and since 1975 I have been President/Principal of Laicon, Inc.

I enjoyed my 4 years at Lane even though I had to take 3 buses to get there. |I met great friends at Lane and many of them I still see today. I met my wife Elaine when I was in my junior year and we are still married after 46 years.
I metmy best friend, Nick Polizzi, in my first year. We were locker partners for 4 years and we played football together. Nick and I dated our wives whuile we were in high school and we are still best friends today.
I enjoyed playing football and in being in the 1958 playoffs in Soldier Field. We lost to CVS in the semi-final game, 13 to 9. Bummer.
I went to college in the Chicago area and had a great career there with 42 years with the same company.
My family and friends occupy much of my time now and I enjoy it.

After graduating in January 1959, things got interesting: One year at Bradley U. in Peoria, a year racing boats, another year at Bradley; two years in the Western Pacific aboard an aircraft carrier (Coral Sea); two years at NIU in De Kalb, and then a job with a CPA firm in Rockford. Back to Chicago in 1968--Northwestern Law--and a JD in 1971. After passing the bar exam, wife Nancy, daughter Sandy (age 5), and I sailed our 26-foot sloop--Anomaly--from Chicago to the Bahamas and Chesapeake Bay. I was City Attorney for Rockford in 1972-73, and in private practice until 1981. Nancy, Sandy (then 15), our son Winn (then 7), and I sailed our 43-foot ketch--Outward Bound--from Chicago to New York, Florida, and Europe, returning by way of the Canary Islands and Caribbean during 1981-84. I was a farmer until 1991, when, kids grown, Nancy and I sailed our 34-foot sloop--Solent--from North Carolina to Venezuela. We spend the cold six months aboard Solent in the Caribbean, touch base at our farm home NW of Rockford in spring and fall, and summers head to Alaska in our motor home. Life is good!

I am a semi-retired real estate broker in Park Ridge at Century 21 Elm Realtors. I was married to my first wife, Renee', for 23 years before our Lord called her back to her spiritual home. We had five children together; Laura, a graduate of Notre Dame University,Wendy a graduate of St Mary's College in South Bend, Jorie, a graduate of Drake University, Jennifer, a graduate of Western University in Macomb IL., and Beverly, a graduate of Northeastern in Chicago. We have lived at our present address for the past 33 years. We have two grandchildren, Jaclyn and Douglass. I have been blessed in so many ways throughout my life. Space here does not allow me to share all of those special events, but Baptizing my grandson Douglass, on my 56th Birthday, was truly a wonderful moment. It's hard to believe that 50 years have passed so quickly. I often think of my joyous days at Lane, my fellow school friends and the teachers who instilled the education we so desparately needed to function in the world today. I drive by the school frequently and fondly remember all those school days which shine brightly in my mind and in my heart. How lucky I was to attend this school of knowledge. Priceless! I'm looking forward to seeing many of you at our 50th class reunion. GO LANE GO! Ron and Connie Gronek.

Initial employment was with Teletype Corporation in Skokie, IL, a subsidiary of now Lucent Technologies with various positions within Manufacturing Engineering, Test Systems Design, Corporate Planning, Product Service and became a Registered Professional Engineer in Illinois along the way. Fifteen years later, Tellabs, Inc. in Lisle, IL, offered and I bought an equity stake in the young startup telecommunications company working in various capacities. Another career change came five years later (1984) becoming an independent investor. Some say that was my retirement date but the new undertaking took considerable time and effort.
Over the years we enjoyed traveling the States and Europe. As to investing success, Gates and Buffet needn't worry about any challenge. Life in total has been good. The children went to college or the trades according to their preference and we enjoyed watching them grow and mature. The grandchildren have been a special bonus.

One year after my graduation from college, I married my spouse. We have three wonderful children and five grandchildren. After working as a structural engineer for five years after graduation from IIT, I accepted a project engineer position with a startup environmental engineering firm (Laicon, Inc.) in LaGrange, Il in 1968. In 1975 I became president and co-owner of Laicon, Inc. and I'm still working and running Laicon. My wife and I enjoy our children and grandchildren and are blessed that they live within minutes of our home in Northfield. I enjoy travel but since I am still working full time the travel time is limited. I am an avid Sox fan (even though I was raised on the north side) and Bears fan. In looking back, it was a structural drawing course I took at Lane Tech that influenced me to go into the Civil Engineering curriculum at IIT.

Met my wife while attending Lewis. Have two married sons, Tom in CO, Ken in Lockport. Each has a boy and girl. I golf (more often now that I'm selling Real Estate part time.) Enjoy sports. First as a participant, now as a fan. Played Basketball till knees gave out, and Racquet Ball and Softball to lesser degrees. Quit for the same reason. Now enjoy watching grandchildren play. Golf, with 18 handicap. Can't seem to lower HC. Any tips would be appreciated. Follow Bears, Bulls, and (do I dare admit, the Cubs.) Avid reader, occasional newspaper correspondant, failed politician (ran for local offices 6 times, and like Abe Lincoln, who lost the first six times he ran, I did the same. No more political ambitions. Membership in Lock. Lions, Moose Lodge, Amer. Legion, VFW. Past president of Lions and Jaycees. Lived in Lockport since 1960, when mostly surrounded by farms. Looking for warm weather state to spent time away from Chicago area in winters in the coming years.

After high school I joined the Air Force with Al Witek from same graduation class of 1959. Came back to Chicago with my wife Betty and son Mike and went to work for Zenith Radio as a draftsman. Worked there for nine months and went to work for United Parcel in 1964, and then quit and moved to Seattle WA and went back to work again for United Parcel and retired 12/29/00.. After retirement we travel visiting our children (3) and grandchildren (4) along with a couple trips to Europe for our own entertainment. Along with golf, traveling and working around the house, it seems like there isn't enough time in the day to accomplish everything I want to do....Go Lane and thanks for the memories..

Being habitually lazy and often tardy in high school did not suit me well in college nor in my early twenties when financial problems and the Viet Nam draft kept me from gaining steady employment. I did not go to war but eventually obtained employment in the construction industry in a union capacity as a surveyor/construction engineer.
Without what I consider my financial acumen, my social security and union pension would not be sufficient to provide me with my current life style. I own two homes, one in Door County, an old car and am partnered with a woman who has put up with me for almost thirty years.
Life is good, it ain't raining and I am starting to write good poetry. Go figure.

After graduation, I worked in construction for several years. At the age of 21, in 1961, I accepted a position with the City of Chicago Police Department. The Canine Unit and Task Force were some of my assignments until I was promoted to Detective were I worked in Area Four , the Robbery Division.
In 1976 I left the Police Department, and moved with my family to Custer South Dakota, where our family owned and operated a Napa auto parts in Custer. In 1980 we moved to Rapid City SD, where I went back into law enforcement. After our youngest son started college, my wife Margaret and I again relocated, this time to Las Vegas, NV. We have been in Las Vegas for over 22 years, after working for the City of Las Vegas, for almost 18 years as a Maintenance Supervisor, I retired in 2006.
My wife and I are truly enjoying retirement, we love to travel, and visit our kids. Our son Louis and wife Kirsten live in Mason WI, where they own and operate The White River Saloon, our daughter Donna is a registered nurse, she and her husband Larry and our youngest grandson, Henry live in Denver. Our eldest son Joe, wife Karen, and our grandson Josh live here in Vegas, just a mile away. Joe, and Karen are both journeyman electricians, Josh is beginning his third year in the IBEW apprentice electricians program. In addition to travel, I love to golf, and usually mange to do so at least once a week. Margaret and I are planning a cruise to Hawaii this fall to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary.

I have worked and lived in the Chicago area all of my life. Until I received the invitation to attend our 50th reunion, I have not had any contact with the school and very few contacts with fellow classmates over the past 50 years. Since retirement in 2002, my wife and I have traveled extensively and enjoy spending time with our grandchildren.

After graduation, I attended Wright Jr. College for two years. Got the itch to travel, and joined the Navy, which after boot camp, sent me to Electronic Technician school in Great Lakes for a year. After school, I was sent out to a couple of ships in the Western Pacific for the rest of my tour, visiting Japan, Okinawa, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and I also pulled duty off the coast of Vietnam which was starting to heat up. My active tour of duty was extended by Presidential order, and I finally got back to Chicago in 1966.
Got a job with Motorola, Inc. as an R&D Electronic Technician, in their Two-way Radio division. I worked on Base Stations, Mobiles, Voting Receiver Systems, and finally on Communication Consoles. During that time I went to school, earned a degree and started working as an Electronic Engineer. After working at Motorola for 13 years, I finally got tired of the cold weather, and accepted a job offer in California.
There, I also designed Communications Control Consoles. After about six years, the company came on hard times, so I started to work for Aerospace. During the next 12 years, I worked for several companies, designing electronics for airplanes, helicopters, missiles, ships, and submarines. In the mid-nineties, Aerospace did a major contraction, and I found myself back in Radio Communications for about five years. The company was bought and left California. I got another job in Medical electronics, designing Insulin Pumps for Diabetics. I finally retired in June of 2009.

After Graduation attended Wright Jr. for one session and volunteered for the draft. Went in the U.S. Army for two years and served as the Company driver in the 529th Signal Company at Fort Sill, OK. In the Fall of 1961 started back at Wright and went to the job section and asked for an office mgt. trainning position at Wonderbread in Chicago. Dropped accounting at Northwestern and returned to flying lessons which I had started at age 15 at Palwaukee Airport. By April of 1964 after completing all but my ATP, I started instructing at Dupage Aviation, Dupage Airport with 330 hours TT. One year later and with 1400 TT I was in an Ozark DC-3 Co-Pilot class for Ohare and stayed 6 months, loved it. Started as an American Airlines Co-pilot & F/E DC-6&7 class with 1700 hours TTand one semester in College. Later went to the L-188 F/E class then BAC-111, 727,707, DC-10. Got my Captain Rating on my 34th birthday 2/23/40 in a 707. The best gift I've ever received. Started flying Captain in Chicago in the spring of 1977. Later flew the DC-9, 757,767, 747, MD-11 & the 777. Instructed for awhile and enjoyed International flying my last 9 years. Graduated from Dallas Baptist University in December of 2000. Flew 9 years between Flexjet and NETJETS. After 45 years & 32,000.safe hours without incident, I'll retire this fall. In Feb. of 1978 was saved & born again at a Church of God in Rockford, IL. Married Julie Mangus Gustafson, in 1987 she is such a beautiful helpmate. We share a strong interest in genealogy. SAR & DAR. How blessed we are to have such a Godly Heritage.

I started working at Walgreens in October of 1958 as a stock clerk at the Harlem/ Foster store. I worked for them 14 years, at various locations. The last position as store manager of the Harlem/ Foster store. While working with Walgreens in 1965, I went into the Army, and served with the First Infantry Division (Big Red One) in Vietnam until October of 1966. A month after getting discharged, I ordered a 1967 Buick Riviera GS, and I still have the car.
March of 1968 I met Linda, the love of my life, and still have the girl. We married August 23, 1969. Dan was born Sept. of 1973 and Cheryl in Sept. of 1976.
I started to work in the Liquor and wine sales business in 1973. I stayed on when Wine and Spirits was bought out by Romano Bros. which was taken over by Southern Wine & Spirits. Retirement came in July 2004, the same year Cheryl was married. On April 14, 2009, Cheryl and Darwin had our first grandchild, Caden.
We are very close with Bob Chodil (59) and Art Zickman (59). We own a lake home in Wisconsin, since 1976, and have enjoyed many summers there with our family.
